This website, today, moves from unofficial Grantby website to official Grantby website: over the past 1.5 years we've made contact with, gotten to know, and have started working with Grantby, and it seems only right therefore that this should become the defacto Grantby resource on the net. Voila!

Quite possibly, this might yet
become the official unofficial, or unofficial official Grantby website. The man himself has been in contact with an update, and can you believe it, a photo - "it'll be the only picture of 'Grantby' apart from one in the Melody Maker in 1995", he said in a recent e-mail.Further news is that:
- Grantby is currently finishing a project involving sounds and images recorded over October 2006 in West Cornwall, and a 1970's mixing desk Grantby has modified into an instrument. "I'm hopefully gonna be performing that thing this summer at a number of events." Grantby.com may just show you a three-minute Quicktime movie of this in the near future, if you're very very good.
Grantby aka Dan Grigson is opening in February 2007, a new studio in Tottenham Court Road, London called The Red Room. "Still painting and fitting it out just now", he comments.
So can you believe it? Real news!

On November 20th 2003 at 00.38 hours I sent an e-mail to an associated of Dan Grigson (aka Grantby). By the time I got out of bed later that same morning I had received a response.
My purpose for getting in contact was this: I had just had an encounter with Grantby's music such that I felt I wanted to know more about the creator. I found little on the web to satisfy me. Being a web designer I thought, what a shame, I'm sure I could help.
By November 23rd 2003 I had the site you see before you built, though it was missing its content. But, the structure was there.
By Christmas of 2003, it was apparent that this was never going to be the official website of Grantby. So I sat on the design, forgetting about it, until about an hour ago... as I write this, it's January 2006.
About an hour ago I was again listening to Grantby. I have no more tunes now than I had on the night of November 20th 2003, but it still sounds fresh and exciting to me.
So, then I thought... well, I'm still a designer, but now I've got my own server, and can probably afford a domain name now when I couldn't in 2003... so let's put this momma live and be damned.
So here it is.
